Dashboard and Workbench access
How Field Agent Role and Dashboard Access control the application surfaces a Role can use.
Dashboard access and Workbench access are Role settings. They are separate from the entity and action permission matrix.
Configure both under Access Control → Roles & Permissions.
Role settings
| Role setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Field Agent Role | Allows the Role to enter Workbench and use its offline-capable workspace. |
| Dashboard Access | Allows the Role to enter the connected Dashboard. |
Marking a Role as Field Agent Role initially turns Dashboard Access off. You can turn Dashboard Access back on when the Role needs both surfaces.
Resulting access
| Field Agent Role | Dashboard Access | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Off | On | Dashboard access. The default landing page is Dashboard. |
| On | Off | Workbench access only. The default landing page is Workbench. |
| On | On | Both surfaces. The default landing page is Workbench. |
| Off | Off | No available application surface. The user is sent to the unresolved-access page. |
A Role must be marked Field Agent Role to enter Workbench. Entity permissions alone cannot provide Workbench access. A Field Agent Role still needs the relevant permissions for the journeys and data it uses.
Offline access
After a successful online sign-in and preparation of the device, Workbench can permit offline entry for up to 24 hours. The device must still belong to the signed-in user and its local protection must be available.
When the offline authorization period expires, or the required local authorization is missing, reconnect and sign in online. A locked or mismatched device may require its documented unlock or recovery procedure.
See Workbench and Offline Operations for preparation, synchronization, protection, and recovery procedures.
Dashboard visibility after entry
Dashboard Access opens the Dashboard. It does not make every module available. The user's permissions, data scope, record state, and other access controls still determine which sidebar items, routes, tabs, and buttons are shown.
