Customer groups and contributions
How group membership, meeting schedules, and contribution postings work together.
A Group is a Customer whose Customer Type category is Group. It uses the normal customer-application journey, but its members must resolve to existing Customers before the Group Customer can be created.
Before you begin
Confirm that an active Group Customer Type and the required contribution buckets and types have been configured. See Customer configuration.
Each Group member must be a separate Authorized, Active Customer. A customer cannot be its own member, and the same customer cannot appear twice in one Group.
Access required
You need Read Customer and data-scope access to view a Group Customer. Maintaining an Authorized Group through the current Customer form requires Update Customer. Membership changes additionally require the permission for the exact operation: Create Customer Group Member to add a member, Update Customer Group Member to change an existing membership, and Delete Customer Group Member to remove one. An amendment containing more than one kind of membership change requires every applicable permission. Meeting-schedule changes do not require the Group Member permissions. All changes to an Authorized Group Customer follow the Customer amendment process.
Group members captured during initial onboarding are governed by the Customer Application workflow. The separate Group Member permissions apply when an established, Authorized Group Customer is maintained.
Posting a contribution requires Create Transaction. The current form also requires Read Customer Group Member and Read Contribution Type. Submission and approval then require the permissions and authorization authority applicable to the Transaction.
Reading contribution balances requires Read Group Contribution Balance. Reading contribution history separately requires Read Group Contribution Entry. The Contributions tab appears when you have at least one of these permissions. Each inner view is available only with its own permission.
Review a Group Customer
Open Customer Relationship → Customers, find the Group, and select View. The detail page uses the same tab layout as other Customers:
- Overview contains the Group's Customer information, identities, and contacts.
- Group contains Leadership, Members, and Meeting Schedules.
- Contributions contains permission-controlled Balances and History views.
- Accounts lists all Accounts owned by the Group and links to the Account and Product detail pages.
- Documents contains documents and, for Authorized Customers, signature specimens.
- Record & Audit contains system metadata, audit actors, External IDs, and maker-checker decisions when the record is awaiting a decision.
Pending amendments remain above the tabs. Use the existing Amend, Propose Amendment, or correction action to maintain the Customer. The Actions menu contains Download PDF, Change operational status, and View customer application when available. Approve, Reject, and Deny remain in the maker-checker panel under Record & Audit.
Review contribution balances and history
Open Contributions and select Balances. Each row represents a member's balance for a Contribution Type, Balance Bucket, and Currency. The table shows Contributed, Withdrawable, Available for guarantee, Guarantee held, and Invoked amounts.
- Available for guarantee is the unreserved contribution capacity.
- Guarantee held is pledged capacity reserved for active loan guarantees. The corresponding amount is also excluded from the selected Group Account's available balance, while its cleared balance is unchanged.
- Invoked is the cumulative amount transferred from pledged Group Accounts to secured loan Accounts after guarantee invocation. Invocation reduces the pledged Account's cleared balance; it does not reduce available balance a second time.
Filter by Member, Contribution type, Balance bucket, or Currency. The balance summary totals all matching balances, including rows on other pages. Currencies are always shown separately. These are Group member balances, not balances for one Account.
Select History to review posted entries with their Value Date, Member, Entry Type, Contribution Type and Balance Bucket, Amount and Currency, Account, Transaction reference, Classification, and Narrative. Older entries without a recorded Type or Bucket display a dash.
Guarantee reservations, releases, and invocations appear in History as Guarantee hold, Guarantee release, and Guarantee invoke entries. Their Account and Transaction links provide the audit path back to the pledged funds and settlement posting.
History also supports Entry type, Account when you have Read Account, and a Value date from / to range. History dates and entry types do not change the balance summary. Account and Transaction references open the relevant record when you have its Read permission.
Type and Bucket filters can search their configuration directories when you have the respective Read permissions. Otherwise, they offer the values available in the displayed contribution records.
Both tables show 20 rows by default, with 10, 20, 50, or 100 rows per page. Changing a filter returns the table to its first page. The workspace is read-only; record new contributions through Transactions. For how these balances support loans, see Collateral and guarantees.
Add or remove members
On an Authorized Group Customer, select Amend or Propose Amendment, then open Stakeholders → Members.
- Select Add Group Member.
- In Link to Customer, find the existing Authorized, Active customer. Selecting it fills the member's customer details.
- Enter an optional Role, such as Treasurer or Member, and any applicable address.
- Repeat for each member, or select Remove Group Member on a membership that should no longer be active.
- Submit the Customer amendment.
The membership change takes effect only when the amendment is applied. If approvals are required, the current membership remains active while the proposal is pending.
Maintain meeting schedules
In the Group Customer amendment form, open Group Meetings. A schedule can be Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly on a day of the month, Monthly on an nth weekday, Bi-monthly on a day of the month, or a list of Custom dates.
Set the schedule's effective dates and pattern-specific fields. Keep one active schedule marked Default. Active schedules can be selected for group loans; the default is used when a loan application asks remoteEaze to harmonize its repayment dates automatically. Inactive schedules are not offered for new loans.
Post a Group contribution
Open Customer Relationship → Transactions and select Create Transaction. On the Header tab, set Intent to Group Contribution.
Build the posting so that it contains exactly:
- one customer-owned Debit line for the contributing member; and
- one customer-owned Credit line for the receiving Group.
remoteEaze derives the member and Group from those lines and checks that an active membership connects them. Select the Contribution type and one of its allowed Balance buckets. The selected currency comes from the credited Group Account.
Saving is blocked when the line ownership is ambiguous, the member and Group are the same Customer, the membership is inactive or missing, or the selected type or bucket is not valid. The Transaction then follows its normal submission and authorization lifecycle.
When the Transaction posts, remoteEaze records the contribution entry and updates the member's contributed balance. The Contribution Type determines whether the amount also increases the withdrawable or guaranteeable balance. Those balances can later support group-loan eligibility and guarantees.
Continue with Create a transaction or Collateral and guarantees.
