Fixed-deposit configuration

How to configure fixed-deposit eligibility, rates, maturity, liquidation, and products.

Fixed-deposit configuration is split between two sidebar locations:

  • Business Configuration → Workflow Configurations → Fixed Deposits contains Eligibility, Interest & Rate, Maturity & Rollover, and Early Liquidation policies.
  • Business Configuration → Contract Configuration → Fixed Deposit Products contains the product that joins those policies to the ledger, account, transaction, and workflow configuration.

Create and authorize the policies first, then create the Fixed Deposit Product.

Access and lifecycle

Each tab requires Read permission for its entity. Creating or changing a record requires its corresponding Create or Update permission. Approval actions require the matching authorization permission and L1, L2, or L3 authority configured for the action. At L0, select or filter by company where the screen offers that control; tenant users remain within their own company.

Fixed Deposit Products and all four policy types use maker-checker. Changes to an Authorized record use an amendment, so the current values remain effective until all required approvals are complete. Use Save as Draft without starting authorization, or Save & Submit when the record is ready for authorization.

Prepare the shared configuration

Before creating the fixed-deposit policies, prepare:

  • an Authorized customer-facing Liability Product;
  • an Authorized Account Condition and Account Condition Policy for that Product;
  • Authorized transaction codes for funding and the settlement paths the product will offer;
  • internal GL coverage and complete credit-interest accounting on the Account Condition;
  • any Rate Definitions used for deposit pricing; and
  • an Authorized Workflow Definition with owner type Fixed Deposit.

The shared Account Condition Policy is currently created under Workflow Configurations → Lending → Account Condition Policies, even when it will be used by a Fixed Deposit Product. It must belong to the selected Liability Product.

The Account Condition must identify the credit-interest Expense and Payable Products and the interest-accrual and capitalization transaction codes before the Fixed Deposit Product can be submitted.

See Account configuration, Transaction Codes, Chart of Accounts, and Workflow definitions.

Configure fixed-deposit policies

Open Workflow Configurations → Fixed Deposits. Each policy must be Authorized before it can be selected on a Fixed Deposit Product.

Eligibility Policies

Select Eligibility Policies → Create Eligibility Policy. The screen fixes the Owner Type to Fixed Deposit. Enter the Code, Name, and optional Description, then open the saved policy to add Eligibility Rules.

Each rule identifies the fact, comparison, threshold, lookback where applicable, failure severity and message, evaluation order, and whether the outcome may be waived. A permitted user may waive only a rule configured as waivable, using Waive Fixed Deposit Application and a reason.

Interest & Rate Policies

Select Interest & Rate Policies → Create Interest & Rate Policy. Enter the policy identity and optional Effective From and Effective To dates, then choose its Rate Source.

Rate sourceConfiguration
FixedEnter the Fixed Annual Rate (%) applied to qualifying deposits.
Rate DefinitionSelect an Authorized Rate Definition, then set the optional spread, floor, and cap. The effective rate value is resolved when terms are quoted.
MatrixAdd one or more rules matched by principal range, tenure range, interest payout mode, and payout frequency. Each rule supplies a fixed annual rate or a Rate Definition with optional spread, floor, and cap.

Matrix rules must have unique codes and must not overlap when their payout mode and frequency are the same. Lower Priority values are considered first. Rounding Mode controls how the resolved annual rate is rounded.

Use Negotiated Rate Controls only when an approved quote may depart from the resolved rate. Configure the minimum and maximum allowed rate, maximum variance, whether a reason is required, and whether changing the rate requires terms to be approved again.

Maturity & Rollover Policies

Select Maturity & Rollover Policies → Create Maturity & Rollover Policy.

FieldMeaning
Interest Payout ModesPermits interest at maturity, periodic interest, or both.
Periodic Payout FrequenciesRequired when periodic interest is allowed.
Principal Maturity ActionsPermits payout, rollover, or both.
Rollover Amount ModesRequired when rollover is allowed; chooses principal only or principal plus net interest.
Require Rollover Tenure ReselectionRequires a new permitted tenure when rollover instructions are captured.
Require Nominated Payout AccountRequires settlement to the nominated customer account.
Working-day AdjustmentMoves the processing date backward or forward when the nominal maturity falls on a non-working day. The nominal maturity remains the interest boundary.
Queue Lead DaysControls how early the contract enters the maturity queue.

If Payout is allowed, select an active Authorized Maturity Principal Payout Trans Code. If Rollover is allowed, select an active Authorized Rollover Principal Trans Code. Rollover currently uses the prevailing rate.

Early Liquidation Policies

Create an Early Liquidation Policy only when the product needs explicit early withdrawal behaviour. Select Early Liquidation Policies → Create Early Liquidation Policy.

  • Allow Early Liquidation enables settlement before maturity and requires an active Authorized Liquidation Trans Code.
  • Minimum Holding Days delays the earliest allowed liquidation date.
  • Allow Partial Liquidation keeps the remaining deposit active; optionally set its Minimum Remaining Principal.
  • Working-day Adjustment controls the settlement date when it falls on a non-working day.
  • Penalty Basis determines whether a percentage applies to principal, gross interest, withdrawn amount, or outstanding principal. Select None when no penalty applies.

When a penalty is enabled, enter the rate and optional minimum and maximum amounts, then select an active Authorized Penalty Trans Code and an Authorized internal Income Penalty Income Product. If the penalty uses gross interest, Interest Penalty Allocation determines whether it uses the withdrawn principal's attributable interest or all interest earned to date. Withholding tax remains based on gross earned interest; the penalty is posted separately against settlement proceeds.

Create the Fixed Deposit Product

Open Contract Configuration → Fixed Deposit Products and select Create Fixed Deposit Product.

Product identity

Select the Liability Ledger Product. It must be Authorized, customer-facing, and type Liability. It supplies the code, name, currency, and ledger identity and cannot be changed after creation. Only one Fixed Deposit Product may use a given Liability Product.

Select the Authorized Account Condition Policy belonging to that same Product and the Authorized Funding Trans Code that transfers funds from the customer funding account into the fixed-deposit account.

Configuration selection

Select the Authorized Fixed Deposit Eligibility Policy, Interest & Rate Policy, Maturity & Rollover Policy, and Default Workflow. The workflow must have owner type Fixed Deposit. Early Liquidation Policy is optional; leave it empty when the product does not offer early liquidation.

Principal and tenure

Set the optional Minimum Principal and Maximum Principal, then choose a Tenure Mode:

  • Fixed permits one tenure in months;
  • Minimum / Maximum permits a continuous range; or
  • Allowed Values permits only the comma-separated whole-month values.

The maximum principal or tenure cannot be lower than its minimum.

Save as Draft requires the Liability Ledger Product but permits the policy, transaction-code, workflow, and tenure configuration to be completed later. remoteEaze still rejects contradictory values, such as a maximum below its minimum.

The product cannot be submitted until its tenure rule is complete and its Account Condition Policy, Funding Trans Code, Eligibility Policy, Interest & Rate Policy, Maturity & Rollover Policy, and Default Workflow are present and Authorized. Early Liquidation remains optional. The complete configuration is revalidated during submission, approval, and amendment application.

Finish and verify

Confirm the product and every selected policy are Authorized, and that no amendment is still awaiting approval. Then use Before accepting the first fixed deposit for the end-to-end readiness check. That checklist covers customer accounts, workflow actions, sequences, permissions, calendars, booking, and funding without duplicating their configuration here.
