Lending configuration

How to configure loan reference data, policies, products, funding rules, repricing, and provisions.

Lending configuration is split between two sidebar locations:

  • Business Configuration → Contract Configuration contains Loan Purposes, Collateral Types, Facility Classes, Rate Definitions, Loan Provisions, and Loan Products.
  • Business Configuration → Workflow Configurations → Lending contains Eligibility, Pricing, Repayment, Penalty, and Account Condition policies.

Configure shared records first and the Loan Product last. The product is the contract-level record that joins the customer Product, workflow, policies, posting transaction codes, tenure rules, and repayment frequencies.

Access and lifecycle

Each tab is shown only to users with Read permission for that entity. Create, update, delete, export, and authorization actions require their corresponding entity permissions. At L0, select or filter by company where the screen offers that control. Tenant users remain within their own company.

Loan Purposes and Collateral Types are immediate reference configuration. They do not use maker-checker. Facility Classes, Rate Definitions and Rate Values, Loan Provisions, Loan Products, all five lending policy types, Pricing Adjustment Rules, Source-Funds Rules, and Repricing Rules use maker-checker. The required L1, L2, and L3 approvals come from the acting permission's configured authorization level.

Changing an Authorized maker-checker record creates an amendment. Its current values remain effective until the amendment completes the required approvals. Use Save as Draft to retain a valid form without starting authorization, or Save & Submit when all required references are ready.

  1. Prepare the customer-facing Asset Product, Account Conditions, transaction codes, GL coverage, rates, sources of funds, and a Loan Workflow Definition.
  2. Create the lending reference data used by applications and facilities.
  3. Create and authorize the lending policies.
  4. Create and authorize the Loan Product that links those records.
  5. Add any product-specific Source-Funds Rules or Repricing Rule.
  6. Configure Loan Provisions before the first COB that will service active loans.

See Transaction Codes, Chart of Accounts, Account configuration, Currencies, Sources of Funds, and Workflow definitions for the prerequisites owned by other screens.

Configure lending reference data

Loan Purposes

Open Contract Configuration → Loan Purposes and select Create Loan Purpose. Enter the stable Code and user-facing Description. A purpose categorizes the reason for borrowing when an application captures one. The code cannot be changed later.

Saving creates the reference immediately. Deleting a purpose removes it from normal selection; restore it when the same reference should become available again.

Collateral Types

Open Contract Configuration → Collateral Types and select Create Collateral Type. Enter the Code and Description. Collateral Types classify collateral assets; the asset's valuation and linkage to a facility are handled during customer and lending operations. The code cannot be changed later.

Facility Classes

Open Contract Configuration → Facility Classes and select Create Facility Class.

FieldMeaning
Code, Name, DescriptionIdentify the facility class. The code cannot be changed after creation.
Revolving FacilityAllows available capacity to be reused as exposure is repaid.
Availability (%)Controls the proportion of the approved facility limit that may be available.

After the class is Authorized, open it and use Eligible Products to link the customer-facing Products that may use it. Linking requires Update Facility Class. A Product cannot be unlinked while active facilities exist under that class.

Configure rates and provisions

Rate Definitions and values

Open Contract Configuration → Rate Definitions and select Create Rate Definition. A definition identifies a rate series; its effective-dated values supply the actual percentages.

FieldMeaning
Code, NameStable identifier and selection label.
Rate TypeClassifies the series as a benchmark, source-of-funds rate, operating margin, risk premium, or other rate.
Currency CodeOptionally limits the rate series to a currency.
SourceRecords the external or internal origin of the rate.

Authorize the definition, open it, and add a Rate Value with Rate (%), Effective From, optional Effective To, and optional Published At. Effective periods for the same definition must not overlap. Policies that use a Rate Definition resolve the Authorized value effective on the relevant pricing date.

Source-of-funds Rate Definitions are valued from individual Source of Funds records instead. Add those values from the Source of Funds detail page as described in Sources of Funds.

Loan Provisions

Open Contract Configuration → Loan Provisions and select Create Provision. Create one mapping for each loan-classification status that COB must provision.

FieldMeaning
Loan Classification StatusThe active loan-classification Account Status produced by status and activity rules.
Provision RatePercentage applied to total outstanding exposure: principal, interest, charges, and penalties.
Provision Liability CategoryInternal Liability Product resolved to branch posting accounts.
Provision Expense CategoryInternal Expense Product resolved to branch posting accounts.
Reverse and RepostReverses the previous provision and books the newly required amount when the effective provision changes. When off, COB normally posts only the increase or release delta.

The two internal Products must have valid branch GL coverage before the provision can be used.

Configure lending policies

Open Workflow Configurations → Lending. Create and authorize the policies before attaching them to a Loan Product.

Eligibility Policies

Select Eligibility Policies → Create Eligibility Policy. Set Owner Type to Loan, then enter the Code, Name, and optional Description. Open the policy to add its Eligibility Rules.

Each rule identifies the fact to evaluate, comparison operator, threshold, lookback where applicable, failure severity and message, evaluation order, and whether the result may be waived. A waiver does not make every failed rule waivable: the rule itself must allow waiver, and the user needs Waive Loan Application with a reason during origination.

Pricing Policies

Select Pricing Policies → Create Pricing Policy. The policy combines the configured pricing components into the quoted customer rate.

FieldMeaning
Benchmark RateOptional Authorized Rate Definition resolved on the pricing date.
Source Funds Selection ModeDetermines how eligible product Source-Funds Rules contribute funding cost.
Operating Margin RateMargin added to the resolved base and funding cost.
Risk Premium Mode and Fixed Risk Premium RateDetermine whether and how a risk premium is added.
Floor Rate, Cap RateOptional lower and upper limits for the final rate.
Final Rate RoundingControls rounding of the resolved customer rate.

Open the saved policy to add Pricing Adjustment Rules when customer or application facts should increase or reduce the result. Rules carry their own condition, direction, adjustment type, rate, and priority.

Repayment Policies

Select Repayment Policies → Create Repayment Policy. Define the allocation order across penalty, charge, interest, and principal; each component must appear once. Select the Amortization Method and Overpayment Handling. The current overpayment option applies excess funds to principal.

Penalty Policies

Select Penalty Policies → Create Penalty Policy.

  • Disabled prevents penalty calculation.
  • Flat charges the configured fixed amount.
  • Percentage applies the configured rate to the selected Penalty Base Source.

For an enabled penalty, select an Authorized debit Penalty Trans Code and an Authorized internal Income Penalty Income GL Category with branch GL coverage. Grace Days delay penalty calculation after the due date, while Default Threshold Days determine when the schedule is classified as defaulted.

Account Condition Policies

Select Account Condition Policies → Create Account Condition Policy. This policy decides which Authorized Account Condition is applied when the loan contract creates its account.

Field groupMeaning
Customer Product, Account ConditionBind an Account Condition to the Product used by the Loan Product.
Currency Code, Branch, Minimum Amount, Maximum AmountLimit when the policy matches. Customer Segment is currently reserved and should be left empty.
Rate SourceUses Account Condition tiers, the approved pricing snapshot, an Authorized Rate Definition plus spread, or an approved manual override.
Floor Rate, Cap Rate, Spread RateConstrain or adjust the selected rate source where shown.
Allow Manual Override and boundsPermit a booking-time rate override only within the configured range.
Default PolicyMarks the fallback policy for the Product when no more specific policy matches. Only one default may exist per Product.

Create the Loan Product

Open Contract Configuration → Loan Products and select Create Loan Product. The form is divided into General, Policies, and Repayment.

General

  • Customer Product must be an Authorized customer-facing Asset Product. Only one Loan Product may be configured for it.
  • Default Workflow must be an Authorized Workflow Definition with owner type Loan.
  • Account Condition Policy must be Authorized and belong to the selected Customer Product.

Policies and posting defaults

Select the Authorized Loan Eligibility, Pricing, Repayment, and Penalty policies. Select the Authorized Disbursement Transaction Code and Repayment Transaction Code used as the product defaults.

Set Minimum Collateral Coverage when a workflow that allocates collateral must cover a defined percentage of the approved loan amount. For example, 100 requires full coverage and a value above 100 requires over-collateralization. Leave it blank when any positive active allocation is sufficient.

Repayment

Choose the Tenure Rule:

  • Fixed permits one installment count;
  • Minimum / Maximum permits a continuous range of installment counts; or
  • Allowed Values permits only the listed installment counts.

Then select the Default Repayment Frequency and Allowed Repayment Frequencies. The default must be one of the allowed values.

A Loan Product cannot be submitted until the workflow, Account Condition policy, four lending policies, both transaction codes, default repayment frequency, and at least one allowed frequency are present. remoteEaze revalidates the complete configuration on submission, at every approval, and when an approved amendment is applied.

Add product-specific funding and repricing

Open an Authorized Loan Product after its main configuration is complete.

Under Source-Funds Rules, select Create Rule to attach a Source of Funds used by loan pricing. Set its Priority, optional amount range, optional currency, and allocation mode. The Source of Funds must be configured for loan pricing. Use separate rules when eligibility differs by amount or currency.

Under Repricing Rules, select Create Rule when a floating-rate loan may be repriced. A Loan Product supports one rule. Configure the repricing frequency, Authorized Rate Definition, spread, and notice days. Leave this section empty for products that do not reprice automatically.

Finish and verify

Confirm every record needed by the product is Authorized and that no amendment is still awaiting approval. Then use Before originating the first loan for the end-to-end readiness check. That checklist covers customer, workflow, facility, account, calendar, access, and posting requirements without repeating their configuration here.
