FX providers
How to configure an external FX rate provider and its automated update policy.
Open Business Configuration → Financial Configuration → FX Providers. An FX Provider controls the external rate source, supported currencies, margins, connection settings, and daily automation policy.
Before you begin
The company must have:
- a License-provisioned base currency and company timezone;
- an Authorized working calendar active for COB;
- each required foreign currency in Tenant Currencies;
- valid exchange-gain and exchange-loss Products with posting coverage in every active branch.
See Currencies and Business calendars.
Access and lifecycle
Read FX Provider shows the tab, Create FX Provider permits a draft, and Update FX Provider permits eligible changes. L1, L2, and L3 authority controls the configured checker sequence.
Provider configurations use maker-checker. Changes to an Authorized provider use an amendment, so the current provider policy remains active until the amendment is approved.
Configure the FX provider
Open FX Providers and select New Rate Provider. The current provider is Frankfurter.
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Foreign currencies | Currencies this provider may fetch. The base currency is included automatically and cannot be selected as foreign. |
| Buy margin / Sell margin | Basis-point adjustments applied around the provider's reference rate. |
| Enabled | Allows permitted users to fetch rates from the provider. |
| Default provider | Preselects this provider in the rate-update flow. Only one enabled Authorized provider remains default. |
| Automated daily updates | Runs one provider fetch each day. |
| Daily run time | Automation time in the company's timezone. |
| Maximum reference-rate movement | Movement beyond this basis-point threshold is held for review. |
| Timeout / Retry limit | Connection limits under Advanced connection settings. |
Select at least one foreign currency. Disabled configured currencies can be included in the provider policy, but they do not become operational until a valid rate is activated. Save the provider as a draft or submit it for approval.
Understand daily automation
An Authorized provider with automation enabled runs at its configured company time. If the returned rates are complete, fresh, valid, and within the movement threshold, the automation policy authorizes and activates them. An unchanged observation records No Change.
Exceptional results are held as an unclaimed Captured Rate Update instead of becoming live. The detail page explains a missing Currency, stale observation, missing baseline, base-currency mismatch, invalid rate triplet, or movement threshold breach. A permitted reviewer must claim, review, and submit the update through the normal approval sequence.
Create and approve operational rates under FX Rate Updates.
